Is there hidden gold in your marriage?
I remember the years of struggles that Dave and I used to go through, the repeating patterns. You know what I mean, when you keep circling the same mountain so many times that your well-worn trail has actually now become a rut in the road?
Repeating cycles
Why is it the we seem to go around and around in the same circles, the same cycles, the same mountain? It is because we have not seen the treasure that we were meant to find, and He is circling us back around to find it.
Let me give you a hint; it is usually hidden within our spouse. And what makes it so difficult to find? Because so many times it is hidden behind a wound, an offense, or something that just rubs us wrong. He is calling us to push past that inch of dirt to find the gold hidden under it.
The hidden treasure
Proverbs 25:2 says, “it is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the glory of kings to search it out”. When you look into the deeper meaning of this it is talking about God hiding a treasure and calling you into an adventure of treasure hunting.
But where does God hide his treasure? In treasure boxes of course! And what is the treasure of God? Man. You and I are His treasures. And what does God continually refer to throughout scripture? His Bride, His covenant, The Bridegroom… He is talking about marriage.
Keep digging
He has hidden some of His greatest treasures in the soil of marriage. He is calling you to dig in past the dirt, past the pain, past the offense, and find the gold that is waiting to be discovered.
