I met Melissa and Dave when I first moved to Texas. I moved here to escape a domestically violent relationship revolving around drug addiction and homelessness. I was not a believer nor did I know the journey ahead of me. All I knew was that I needed a new life.
Melissa and Dave donated money to help purchase me clothes and necessities.
Melissa spent countless hours pouring into me and simply spending time as my friend. I attended school of ministry with her my second year where she stepped up to help organize our class. I ended up getting married and little did I know that was where I needed her the most. I found out quickly that it was uncharted territory I couldn’t run away from. Melissa held my hand through my trials as a newlywed. She was open and transparent. She holds nothing back. Her authenticity allowed me to feel the freedom in being myself. She perseveres with her feminine strength. She is a true warrior in Jesus and a great friend. Their marriage is something I look up to. It shows me the example of what success after battle looks like.
